Speaker Bio

Richard Hampo is Vice President of BMS Hardware and Mechanical Engineering at Our Next Energy (ONE), where he is architecting and developing battery management systems and power distribution for automotive, commercial vehicle, and stationary power battery systems. He brings over 30 years of experience in automotive power electronics and has a strong passion for vehicle electrification.

Richard started his career at the Ford Research Lab where he helped pioneer systems like electric power steering and electric active suspension. He continued driving electrification at Ecostar, Ballard Power Systems, and Lear Corporation. Before joining ONE, he started a new business unit for automotive traction inverters at Delta Electronics where he and his team won over two billion dollars in revenue from global OEMS.  He earned BS, MS, and MBA degrees from the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor and holds 50 US patents.
