Speaker Bio

Mark McCarthy is a Program Manager for Energy & Environmental Research with Toyota’s Sustainability & Regulatory Affairs group in Washington D.C., a position he has held since 2011. McCarthy’s responsibilities include strategic planning on future fuels and sustainability goals and strategic partnerships with external energy firms.

Prior to joining Toyota, McCarthy worked for Japanese governmental organizations in both the US and Japan including as the Assistant Director of Energy and Technology at the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) Houston and as an international coordinator with the Shizuoka Prefectural Government. In addition, McCarthy served as an intelligence analyst with the US Army. He holds an M.B.A. from the University of Houston with concentrations in both Energy Risk Management and Energy Economics and a B.A. in History from the University of Texas at Austin.
