Speaker Bio

Hugh Blaxill has been General Manager at MAHLE Powertrain LLC for 8 years. He is responsible for the Engineering and Project Management teams in Plymouth, Michigan.

Prior to moving to the USA, Hugh was responsible for MAHLE Powertrains research and development team in the UK. During the 8 years in this role, significant integration activities with MAHLE’s internal advanced engineering groups was undertaken enabling increases in R&D investment and more diverse product development activities. He has also taken various levels of responsibility for a number of customer turnkey new or upgrade engine production projects. During his career Hugh has authored numerous technical papers and has a number of patents, the majority in the area of combustion development

Hugh joined MAHLE Powertrain (at that time Cosworth) from Ricardo where he has spent 4 years doing light duty diesel engine combustion and mechanical development projects. He studied at the University of Bath in the UK achieving both a Bachelors and Masters in Engineering. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers in the UK.
