Speaker Bio

Dr. Austin Brown is the Director of the Vehicle Technologies Office at the Department of Energy. As Director, he leads research, development, demonstration, and deployment of efficient and clean mobility options that are affordable for all Americans. His previous role was Senior Director for Transportation Emission at the White House Climate Policy Office.

Prior to that, Austin served as Executive Director of the Policy Institute for Energy, Environment, and the Economy at the University of California, Davis. He also served in Washington, DC at the Department of Energy, the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, and as Assistant Director for Clean Energy and Transportation at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy.

He is passionate about teaching and is an Adjunct Instructor at Johns Hopkins University. He has a B.S. from Harvey Mudd College and a Ph.D. from Stanford University.
