Dr. Suresh Reddy is Chief Engineer for Electric Power Conversion & Control in Caterpillar Inc.’s Electrification and Advanced Power Solutions Division. He has been at Caterpillar Inc. for over 18 years, and currently leading technology and product developments and strategy at Caterpillar for microgrids, inverters, battery charging solutions, energy storage systems and related control systems.
In a prior role as Engineering Manager and 6 Sigma Black Belt, he led the development of Caterpillar’s electric drive system for mining trucks. Prior to joining Caterpillar Inc., Suresh Reddy worked at General Electric for over 11 years, in Global Research and GE Transportation divisions, in various roles as Senior Engineer and Engineering Manager, leading control systems developments for locomotive traction and auxiliary electric drives, and engine control systems, as well as various industrial and process control systems.
He received his Ph.D. from M.I.T. and M.S. from The Ohio State University, in Mechanical Engineering, specializing in dynamics and control. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, India. He holds 17 U.S. patents and several publications related to electric drives, microgrids and hybrid power, and various control systems.
